Preservation trust
Trust Fund Summary
We don't just store your memories. We protect their future.
A portion of every Permanent Storage purchase is placed in a trust designed to help fund the ongoing preservation and accessibility of your memories—long after today's accounts, passwords, devices, and platforms are gone. Lasting QR codes create a physical link back to your memories, helping future generations find and experience them.
Because we value your memories as much as you do, we invest in their future ourselves.

How Permanent Storage Is Designed to Last
When Generational Story uses the term Permanent Storage, it describes our commitment and the additional measures we have put in place with the intent of preserving digital memories and making them accessible for generations.*
We believe that the precautions we take today provide the greatest practical protection we can for the long-term preservation and accessibility of Permanent Storage records.
A Separate Trust for Long-Term Access
A portion of each Permanent Storage purchase is contributed to a separate trust established for the benefit of permanent storage beneficiaries.
The purpose of setting aside these funds is to help provide financial resources for the continuing services, storage, infrastructure, preservation, and online access necessary to maintain customers' digital assets over the long term.
Under the governing trust provisions, distributions of income or principal for beneficiaries are directed by the Distribution Advisor. Net income that is not distributed is added to the trust principal, allowing those resources to remain available to support future obligations.
The trust is structured for exceptionally long-term operation. Its governing documents contemplate continuation for the period permitted under applicable law unless it is terminated earlier under the circumstances provided in the trust.
Designed to Survive an Account
Permanent Storage is intended to be different from an ordinary subscription.
The intent is that permanent records remain preserved and accessible even if the original purchaser no longer maintains an active account, forgets a password, dies, or is no longer available to manage the records.
QR codes are intended to provide a durable pathway to those records. QR codes may be placed on headstones, photographs, family records, memorials, keepsakes, and other physical objects so future generations can connect those objects directly to the memories and stories associated with them.
Our intention is to preserve both the digital record and a practical pathway to reach it.
Designed to outlast a Lifetime and a Company
We have also planned for a circumstance most companies would rather not discuss: Generational Story itself may not operate forever.
The trust is intended to provide an additional layer of protection beyond the continued operation of the company. Under the governing trust provisions, funds may be made available to help fulfill commitments to customers for services and online access to their digital assets.
Existing QR codes and permanent links are intended, where technologically and commercially feasible, to continue providing access. However, future technologies, hosting systems, file formats, security requirements, service providers, or other circumstances may require the method of access to change.
In Summary, Permanent Storage represents the additional precautions Generational Story has taken, and intends to continue taking, to provide the greatest reasonable protection for long-term preservation and access that we can provide.
Those precautions include:
- Setting aside a portion of Permanent Storage purchases in a separate trust for the benefit of lifetime and legacy album beneficiaries.
- Allowing undistributed trust income to be added to principal for future needs.
- Structuring the trust with long-term succession in mind.
- Planning for customer records even if Generational Story eventually has no successor.
- Designing records to remain accessible independently of an active subscription or ordinary account login where reasonably possible.
- Using durable links and QR codes to create a pathway between physical family objects and preserved digital records.
- Allowing preservation and access technologies to evolve as better or more appropriate technologies become available.
Our goal is to do something meaningful about that uncertainty today: preserve the memories, create durable ways to reach them, and set aside resources intended to help future generations continue to access them.
* Technology changes. Companies change. Laws change. No organization can guarantee that today's technology, storage providers, websites, QR codes, or other methods of access will exist indefinitely.
Permanent Storage is therefore not a warranty or guarantee against every possible loss or interruption. Circumstances beyond our reasonable control—including technological obsolescence, changes in law, cybersecurity events, infrastructure failures, natural disasters, third-party providers, and technologies or circumstances that do not yet exist—may affect how records are preserved or accessed in the future.
Our Permanent Storage policy is designed to mitigate these risks and provide the greatest practical continuity of preservation and access we can reasonably plan for today. As technology evolves, the method used to store or access your memories may also evolve.
If Generational Story were ever discontinued without a successor, our intent is to preserve continued access to client memories and records wherever reasonably possible. If future laws, technologies, or circumstances make continued online preservation impractical or impossible, the Generational Story trust provides for the orderly distribution of client assets and records. Under the trust provisions, the trust may not be dissolved in these circumstances until client assets and records have been fully distributed to identifiable heirs or other appropriate recipients.
Permanent describes our commitment and strategy toward preserving your memories for the future.
